18. The Falcon & The Winter Soldier (2021)
When it was good, it soared. When it was bad, well, it was trying to convince us that Sharon Carter was the elusive Power Broker, or that the Flag-Smashers - displaced people left stranded by Thanos - were unreasonable and evil for...wanting homes?
Odd character assassinations and wonky politics aside, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has its highs, from the performance of a wounded Sebastian Stan, the introduction of Carl Lumbley's heartbreaking super-soldier Isaiah Bradley, and its exhilarating action sequences, which make the most of Falcon's aerial combat.
Unfortunately, it also has the middling Baron Zemo and John Walker, clearly insane before becoming the new Captain America, and an uneven run that can't quite drive its loftier themes home. Sam Wilson's journey is well-meaning, timely and thrilling, but it's also stuffed to the point of overflowing with ideas half-formed.
