Wanda Maximoff flirted with villainy in WandaVision, as she controlled the minds of an entire town, likely causing irreparable damage to countless people. Though she eventually saw the error of her ways, she wasn’t yet done.

During the series, Wanda discovered the true extent of her potential as the Scarlet Witch, and she took the Darkhold from Agatha Harkness’ basement. This became her bible in her search across the multiverse for the children she had to manufacture in her own reality.

She was already confirmed to be appearing in Multiverse of Madness at this point, though no-one quite knew the extent of her role in that movie. There were plenty of theories, but this was the first real hint that she would be the main villain of the story.

After transitioning into the Scarlet Witch, Wanda perused the Darkhold in her Astral Form in order to find her family, something that she ultimately came close to achieving in the Doctor Strange sequel. This was a short, sharp post-credits scene, but it worked.
