11. Mr. Bean: The Animated Series

Blackadder Series 2
Banijay

Whereas the live-action Mr. Bean series was incredibly concise, cramming so much memorable content into a mere 15 episodes, the animated series is spread over a staggering 131 instalments over the course of 17 years.

And spread is the right word, Bilbo Baggins' analogy from The Lord Of The Rings is apt here, referring to his unnatural ring-inspired lifespan as feeling "thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread".

However, the jokes remain solid, and it has to be taken into account when evaluating that this is the entry on this list most clearly targeted at children.

Whilst something of a waste of Atkinson's physical talents, the show does at least feel in line with the Bean brand and is a better follow up than either of the two theatrical releases. The series' longevity now means that it has been a low-key background factor in the childhoods of multiple generations.

The series inspired a 2007 video game tie-in, with various versions released on PlayStation 2, PC, as well as Nintendo Wii and DS, all of which are now considered some of the worst games of the era, followed up with a series of entirely derivative mobile games.
