Every Time The Simpons REALLY Killed Characters

12. Dr Marvin Monroe

Simpsons Edna Death
Fox

Perhaps the most controversial and downright interesting inclusion to this list is one Dr. Marvin Monroe.

Monroe was first introduced as a family therapist who tried to help the Simpsons rectify their highly dysfunctional ways or double their money back. Despite his years of experience and knowledge, Monroe was unable to cure them, which left him out of pocket.

He appeared sporadically after this but in 'The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular', host Troy McClure revealed that Marvin had passed away off-screen and the audience took this as gospel. From there we were shown several memorials to him in the form of hospitals and gravestones, but he miraculously reappeared in season fifteen's 'Diatribe of a Mad Housewife' claiming that he'd been very sick for many years.

Fans were left confused due to his previously deceased status and things only got more confusing when in his last canonical appearance, he was shown to be a ghost in the episode 'Flander's Ladder', which more than confirms that he is now deceased.

The jury's still out on this one, but looking at the evidence above, it seems pretty clear to us that the writers have finally killed him off for good.
