Falcon & The Winter Soldier: 10 Biggest Takeaways From Episode 3
5. Is Zemo Actually A Villain Of The Series?
When Daniel Brühl was confirmed to be returning to the MCU on Disney+, of course the natural reaction was to expect him to take a villainous role. He tore the Avengers apart, he blew up the UN and killed the King of Wakanda, so why wouldn't he be an antagonist for Sam and Bucky?
Episode three may have proved otherwise however, as it was Bucky who broke Zemo out of prison, and so far he appears to be working on the same side as the titular duo. Yes, he did murder Wilfred Nagel, the man who produced the first successful super soldier serum since Dr. Erskine, but he is still working towards the same goal as Sam and Bucky.
Zemo's hatred for super soldiers, and superheroes in general, is well documented, and while the trio will likely clash heads when it comes to how to deal with such individuals, which in turn may ultimately put Bucky once again in his crosshairs, they are on the same team.
With three episodes already gone, it seems more likely that Karli Morgenthau, John Walker, and the mysterious Power Broker will be the main antagonists of the series, with Zemo instead taking something of a previously unexpected anti-hero role.
