Falcon & The Winter Soldier: 10 Biggest Takeaways From Episode 3
2. Will Sam & Bucky Come To Blows Over The Shield?
Both Sam and Bucky spent time as Captain America's right hand man in the MCU, and both characters have carried the shield and the mantle in the comics. Steve Rogers ultimately chose to pass this on to Sam at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, a decision that Bucky supported, but neither would have expected him to reject the offer and give the shield to a museum.
Obviously, Sam wasn't to know that the Department of Defence would betray him and give the title to John Walker, but Bucky certainly sees it as Sam's fault.
In episode three, as they once more discussed the shield, Sam said that he should have destroyed it. Bucky however, took strong exception to the idea. The shield means a lot of things to a lot of people, and in Buck's eyes, a new Captain America is needed, but John Walker doesn't fit the bill.
Before Sam would ever have a chance to destroy the hunk of vibranium, Bucky would take it from him himself. Could this be foreshadowing a fight for the shield between the two titular characters? They are on the same side for now, but if that shield comes into either's possession, they may not stay friends for very much longer.
