Falcon And The Winter Soldier Episode 3 Explained - Zemo's Return And Wakanda's Hitlist
2. Zemo Proves He's A Loose Canon
Something else that Sam doesn’t feel great about is Zemo’s presence. From the moment Bucky mentioned his name, we saw something dark brewing behind Sam’s eyes - and that same suspicion can be picked up on throughout this episode.
It’s not without good reason. As Zemo roots through cars when he’s freshly broken out, we see him take a moment to pause and pick up his old mask. Far from being just a moment of symbolism, he later dons the apparel after shooting Nagel and going rogue, reminding us that there’s a reason we don’t trust him completely.
On arriving in Riga, Zemo brings up Sokovia and how it was eaten up unceremoniously by surrounding countries. Nobody even visited the memorial. He’s clearly still got an agenda and some grudges to bear, but with Sharon just as skeptical of the American heroes and symbolism as he is, at least he’s not alone.
The episode ends on a dark omen, with Wakanda's special forces legend Ayo appearing on a quiet side street. Her mission? To obtain Zemo. We don't know her plans or what the full Wakanda line on Zemo's capture is yet, but it's unlikely they're just wanting to chat and make up.
