While it was bad that he kissed Bonnie, there were at least some mitigating circumstances there. The smugness is less excusable, but that affair at least started with a moment of weakness both parties immediately regretted.

With Lois though, not only does that mean betraying his so-called best friend Peter, it’s a consistent pattern of despicable behaviour from Brian. Though later series phase out Brian’s friendship with Peter to partner him with Stewie, Peter still saved Brian’s life, puts a roof over his head, and doesn’t deserve to have to be constantly looking over his shoulder for Brian trying it on with Lois.

He’s repeatedly tried to seduce her, sometimes through quite sweet methods (writing his poem about her), and other times being quite manipulative (reading her diary and trying to match himself to her perfect man). Though Lois probably does deserve better than Peter, Brian is hardly the answer.

It’s not just the big, full episode plots which show him holding a candle for her though.

There’s various examples throughout the series of Brian casually leering after Lois. The worst example is probably when they get a cat and Brian lifts the kitten off a sleeping Lois so he can paw at her breasts.
