Fargo: 12 WTF Moments From The Season 2 Premiere 'Waiting For Dutch'

8. The Devil And God

Things don't go particularly well for the Judge, played by Ann Cusack, as she falls victim to Rye's twitchy ways. However, before he got a little too trigger-happy, she was very much dominating the conversation with him. There were a couple of knockout moments in this scene, with her telling Rye that she will squash him like a bug, and pulling a can of bug spray out of her bag as to emphasise the point. She refuses to bow to his pressure, and watching the roles reverse as he begins to squirm is excellent to see. The centrepiece of this is her speech about the devil and god, and the bet they made over Job. It was an unexpected segue from typewriters into the bible, worked into a grandstanding monologue about how she won't change her mind, and somehow totally worked, making what happened after even more effective.
