Fargo’s 10 Most Savage Deaths Ranked
8. Asphalt Bath ("The Myth Of Sisyphus")
Skip Sprag doesn’t know anything except maybe typewriters, and when it comes to organized crime, he’s as clueless as they come. Unfortunately, in Fargo ignorance is often fatal.
Dodd Gerhardt, eldest son of the Gerhardt crime family, is looking for his brother Rye. He knows Skip and Rye were in cahoots but doesn’t have the whole story. (FYI, Rye’s dead and his body’s being ground up at the local butcher shop.)
Skip doesn’t know that Rye murdered a judge at the Waffle Hut before being killed himself. And so, after being accosted by Mike Milligan of the Kansas City mafia, he races to Rye’s apartment in a panic. Rye’s not home, obviously, but his niece Simone and the Gerhardts’ hatchet man Hanzee are.
Skip is soon standing in a hole in the ground and still completely unable to help anyone. Dodd assumes he’s lying and grows impatient. Disgusted, he gives the signal and Skip, clueless to the last, screams and pleads as a dump truck unloads molten asphalt, filling the hole and sealing his fate.
