Fear The Walking Dead: 6 Reasons To Be Excited
1. Unpredictable Storylines
The Walking Dead has frequently played loose with its story details, but the overarching journey has remained relatively the same as the comics, continually hitting signposts every comic reader expects: The farm, the prison, the Hunters, Alexandria, etc. In contrast, as with its characters, Fear has the ability to put comic readers and show-only fans on the same playing field when it comes to its stories.
There is no path that Fear needs to follow to satisfy those who've read the comics, meaning that wherever Fear goes with its stories big and small, it's taking everybody straight into the unknown. Fusing brand new characters with completely original stories in a setting far removed in time and geographical space from the original show opens the door for Fear to go anywhere and do anything in the Walking Dead universe.
In several ways, it's similar to Telltale's The Walking Dead game, giving fans a slice of the world we've come to love - albeit, in Fear's case, on a larger scale - through a wholly unique adventure, without sacrificing what makes The Walking Dead what it is. Everyone's in the dark and, hopefully, that will give Fear the creative freedom and energy it needs to ensure that every narrative twist and turn, as well as every loss, is wonderfully surprising.
Whether it's the casting of the always-great Kim Dickens or the simple fact it's more Walking Dead, there are still many more reasons to be excited for Fear the Walking Dead. Feel free to share what you're most looking forward to below!
