The Flash: 19 Easter Eggs And References You Have To See

10. STAR Labs

One of the other big locations, both for The Flash and the DC Universe in general, also made some pretty significant appearances in the pilot episode. STAR Labs was not only the place where Harrison Wells' particle accelerator experiment went wrong, it's also where Barry recuperated following his own accident, since regular doctors couldn't really deal with the fact that his heart was beating faster than their machines could pick up. STAR can not only deal with that but are full of wonderful toys - besides the malfunctioning accelerator - including all the gear and the outfit Barry gets kitted out in when it's finally time to become the eponymous superhero. STAR Labs stands for Scientific and Technological Advanced Research Labs, and has been a big part of DC Comics ever since it was introduced in 1971's Superman #246. Their research and development facilities have appeared not only in Central City but also Metropolis, Gotham, and a bunch of other places frequented by other superheroes besides The Flash. In that sense STAR could end up being the Rosetta Stone that unlocks a bunch of other characters from the comics, and unites them in a Marvel Cinematic Universe of the sort Warner Bros are clearly trying to imitate by introducing everyone ever in the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice movie. It's still unclear if Arrow and The Flash take place in that Man Of Steel universe but if it does, you can bet STAR will have something to do with it.
