Friends: 10 Ways It Should Have Ended

1. It Should Have All Been Phoebe’s Imagination

What Should Have Happened

Well, the Phoebe Theory.

Phoebe was a loveable weirdo, an obvious outsider as she didn’t live close to the rest of the gang and she hadn’t known them growing up. She references her life on the streets regularly throughout the show, but what if she never made it out? Fan theories have suggested Phoebe may have been a meth-addict but we’re just going to stick with the entire plot, locations and character-quirks being a result of Phoebe’s wacky imagination for this one.

She never managed to get her life back on track after her Mother’s suicide, and she’s desperately wishing for a solid group of friends that she could find some semblance of a family unit it. She sees the gang at the coffee house each day, makes up names for them and builds her dream life into theirs.

The finale should have panned out from Central Perk to show Phoebe (that’s not even her real name) preparing for another night on the streets, staring intently at the gang drinking coffee and celebrating the arrival of Monica and Chandler’s twins (again, they are not their real names).

Sure this one may have emotionally crippled us as fans, but we’d probably have gotten over it at some point. And it would have stopped the endless call for a reunion show, at the very least.
