Friends: Every Halloween And Thanksgiving Episode Ranked
3. The One With The Rumor
This episode received three Emmy nominations, including one for Brad Pitt's excellent guest appearance as co-founder of the I Hate Rachel Greene Club. While Pitt's antagonistic chemistry with Jennifer Aniston is funny enough on its own (the two were married in real life at the time), he also fits in surprisingly well with the rest of the cast. His chemistry with David Schwimmer feels especially natural, as do his limited interactions with Lisa Kudrow.
It's worth noting that Pitt's character also has an adversarial relationship with yams, making this the second of four episodes on this list with a noteworthy focus on potatoes.
Some viewers may understandably feel as if certain jokes haven't aged too well. References to Rachel as "the hermaphrodite cheerleader from Long Island" drew criticism even in 2001, and may be even more poorly received today. It's vital to note, however, that the episode's conflicts stem from ages-old high school squabbles.
We've all said, done or believed things in our youth that we could never even imagine today, and this is the second episode after The One With All the Thanksgivings to remind us of that. In this light, the episode delivers not only some great laughs, but also grounds for some deeply enlightening personal reflection.
You also get to watch Joey eat an entire turkey, so... there's that.
