Friends: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

3. Season Five

Friends Season 1
NBC

After their get together in Season Four, the writers initially planned to have Monica and Chandler move on. Luckily for us, they decided to keep the two together, giving audiences the most stable relationship on the show and also adding an emotional centre outside of the obvious - and by this point dragging - Ross/Rachel relationship.

Chandler and Monica's relationship is beautifully written and perfectly paced. Not rushed or forced, it manages to work wonders, and the episode "The One where Everyone Finds Out" is about as hilarious, sweet and surprising as any other Friends' episode put to screen, ushering in a new era for the show.

This season also gets rid of Emily and allows Ross to have some funny moments thanks to his most recent divorce. The final arc, which sees the gang in Vegas, offers up a wide range of silly but fun sub-plots, such as Joey finding his "hand twin" and Phoebe battling a casino "lurker." The final twist, which sees Ross and Rachel drunk and married, is a brilliantly funny twist on their relationship and is quite refreshing to see given how dramatic their dynamic has always been.

"The One with the Yeti" is a season low-point which introduces a forgettable and odd character in Danny, but it's not enough to topple the season highs of "The One with Ross' Sandwich" and the simple "The One with the Ball."
