We know the technology was invented by celebrity inventor Ron Popeil, the man most famous for the chop-o-matic, electric pasta maker and spray on toupee. But wait, there’s more! He doesn’t seem the prime candidate to invent such a life changing technology, though even side stepping that, there are some issues.
Presumably, the heads in jars are clones of the actual person rather than their actual head, seeing as the likes of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln have heads in jars. There’s also the fact that no one probably wants to have a funeral for their loved one with their head cut off. While this all kinda, sorta tracks, there’s still a few question marks over it.
First off, if this is true, it doesn’t explain how Hermes is kept alive in Bender’s Big Score (more on that later) when his head is sliced off. There’s also some notable gaps in the roster.
Nobody could have expected Futurama to do a Simpsons and predict Trump would be President, but the Presidents we see in jars do seem to be exclusively pre Obama. Then there’s the fact Yancy doesn’t have one, despite his greatness. Doesn’t make much sense.
