Futurama: 50 Best Ever Episodes

14. Godfellas

Bender already thought he was a god anyway, so why not go for it and make him one? That's exactly what "Godfellas" does, and the results are perfect, to say the least. Having become isolated from the crew after an attack by some literal space pirates, Bender drifts through the cosmos until he wanders into an asteroid field and becomes the Great Metal Lord to a civilization that landed on his chest. It's classic Bender as he uses his new found power to score fame and booze, using his power as a god to corrupt instead of help. Watching Bender evolve from careless god to someone who might actually be interested in helping his little society is quite a step for him, but the moment that defines the episode is Bender's meeting with the Galactic Entity that appears to be a Star Trek referenced smashed together with a stirring commentary on the whole of religion itself.

13. A Flight To Remember

"A Flight To Remember" is an episode that works because every character has got something of interest going on. Where some episodes might have a great Fry story, but a weaker Leela story, this episode gives everybody something funny to take part in. Heck, even Hermes has an interesting story if you can imagine that. It also features a terrific parody of the love story from the film Titanic, only with Bender and a robot Countess. This hard luck tale of opposites attracting is a strong counterpoint to Fry's story; being engaged to both Leela and Amy so they can avoid some awkward conversations, and even managing to slip in a few Three's Company references for good measure.
