Futurama: 50 Best Ever Episodes

12. Less Than Hero

If you've ever been a fan of comic books or watched the Superfriends cartoon, then "Less Than Hero" will probably make your entire week. It plays with all kinds of superhero tropes; the reluctant hero who has dual responsibilities, the hokey supervillain and the public fame that comes with being a super powered crime fighter. On the surface, it looks like a Bender story, but it's actually a story about Leela at the end of the day. Leela's time as a superhero comes at the expense of spending the day with parents, which ultimately shows that despite being mutants, her parents are just like any other; they feel proud of her no matter what, a touching conclusion to an episode that is already one of the best.

11. Xmas Story

Thanks to an outstanding performance by John Goodman, the evil Santa Claus robot spreads an incredible sense of terror throughout the episode. As Christmas is one of the most well known and beloved holidays in the world, the writers do a great job Futurama-ing it up, so to speak; by making it a day to fear in the 31st century. Robot Santa becomes a genuine threat in the episode as he targets the Planet Express crew; especially Fry, Leela and Bender as all of them come under fire from the jolly killer. It also has some awesome Fry and Leela moments, with a lot of their flaws coming to the surface in the span of 22 minutes.
