Futurama: Every Planet Express Crew Member Ranked
9. Amy Wong
Similar to Hermes, Amy gets a considerable boost in the revived Comedy Central seasons, with actress Lauren Tom (along with Hermes actor Phil LaMarr) being promoted to the main cast. However, she gets a lot more development, so just shades it over the Jamaican accountant.
In the original four-season run, Amy typically had two storylines: Amy loves Kif or Amy hates her parents. Occasionally these even came together, such as Where The Buggalo Roam. Generally, these episodes were decent enough, but more so because of Kif or the Wongs rather than Amy herself.
Starting in the fourth movie Into The Wild Green Yonder though, Amy becomes a more well rounded character and gets written to actually deliver jokes rather than absorb them. With this, her role grew and she became a much better character.
Aside from her introduction, Amy being the Professor’s grad student had never been mentioned again during the show’s first run. Within ten episodes of the Comedy Central series though, it had featured heavily in That Darn Katz! and The Prisoner Of Benda, as well as Amy starring in Proposition Infinity.
She got better as the show went on, but it’s not enough to oust the big guns.
