Speaking of a scene fans have rewatched countless times… If fans weren’t already screaming for Joffrey’s blood after season 1, they certainly were by the beginning of the fourth season in which the Lannisters found themselves on top of the world, and the Starks snuffed out.

So it was to the immense delight of all that King Joffrey finally croaked on his wedding day, and not a moment too soon. When he keels over in agony, fighting for breath and turning purple from the deadly poison slipped into his wine, hapless and terrified, it represents long-awaited justice, not only for Sansa Stark, but also for fans everywhere.

Even in death, however, Joffrey manages to wreak havoc on our heroes, using his last sap of energy to point the finger at Tyrion, landing our beloved dwarf in hot water and shattering the status quo of King’s Landing forever. Joffrey's death is truly cataclysmic in more ways than one.

Nonetheless, it’s hard not to celebrate as the magnitude of Joffrey’s ghastly exit cannot be understated. As the credits roll to Sigur Ros’ haunting rendition of The Rains of Castamere, we’re free to release a sigh of relief. At long last, the King is dead.
