Game Of Thrones: 10 Most Hated Characters
1. Joffrey Baratheon
Cersei’s brat makes the cut, but the queen herself misses out. She certainly was unpopular on a personal level, but she was such a dynamic villain that it didn’t stray as much into hate as begrudging admiration.
As a bookend to the opening entry, her lack of screen time and rushed death in the final season saw an outcry of support for Lena Heady too, with fans bitter she lacked the send off she deserved.
With Joffrey, there was no such admiration. Fans recognised that Jack Gleeson was a wonderful actor, of course, but his Joffrey was still so utterly irredeemable that he still ranks as the most hated in the series’ history.
Like Ramsay, he was mercilessly cruel, but at least most of Ramsay’s cruelty had a purpose, however much he might have enjoyed himself. Joffrey had no reason for doing anything: he was just nasty to the core.
Not only nasty, the boy king was a snivelling brat, one who delighted in the humiliation of others and showed not an ounce of bravery. The fact he always picked on the weakest people around him is exactly why he tops the list.
