9. Sam Kills A Walker, "Second Sons" For three seasons, we've known Samwell Tarly as the chubby coward of the Night's Watch who possesses book smarts but not much else. This all changes when Sam is forced to defend Gilly and her baby from that White Walker with the flowing locks. Things don't start out too well. The Walker breaks Sam's sword into a million pieces and throws him a good distance away. Just as the Walker is about to take Gilly's baby, Sam uses the only other weapon he has left: dragonglass. Just like the sword, the Walker disintegrates into a million pieces. Not only does this scene reveal how to kill the blue-eyed monstrosities beyond the wall. It also shows that Sam has some guts. The entire scene also has an aura of creepiness courtesy of the mass amount of ravens.
