Game Of Thrones: 10 Reasons It’s The Best TV Show Ever

5. The Violence

The violence in Game Of Thrones is not only incredibly graphic, but also inventive and exceptionally well choreographed. More often than not it's reasoned €” Joffrey/Ramsay aside €” for example trials taking place by combat. While majestic sword fights and jousting matches are beautiful to watch, the most gripping moments are often the most brutal and original. A list within a list, here are five of the most shockingly violent scenes in GOT to date: Molten gold being poured over Viserys Targaryen's spiteful head by Khal Drogo. Oberyn's head being squeezed by The Mountain until it explodes, thumbs-in-eyes and all. King Joffrey's slow and painful death by poisoning, which left him looking constipated and very blue (the way he too often made us feel). The Red Wedding, in which our favourites were slaughtered and mocked at the hands of the detestable Walder Frey. The ultimate insult coming when Robb's direwolf's head is sewn onto his dead body. Hostage + rat + bucket + fire = worst torture ever.
