Game Of Thrones: 10 Reasons Why A Prequel Series Would Be Awesome

4. Bring Back The Dead

If there is one thing for which Game of Thrones is popularly known (other than a certain fondness for sexposition), it is the show's seemingly inexhaustible willingness to kill off major characters. Ever since protagonist Ned Stark was unceremoniously beheaded back in the first season, all bets have been off. Not all deaths have been as emotionally devastating as Ned's or Oberyn's or even Khal Drogo's, and Joffrey's death at his Purple Wedding in Season 4 was a nice salve for those viewers still smarting from the massacre of the Stark forces at the Red Wedding in Season 3. Still, there are narrative holes left by the deaths of certain distinctive characters that have yet to be filled by any newcomers. Fortunately, many of those distinctive characters now dead in Game of Thrones could be resurrected for a prequel. Sean Bean and Mark Addy wouldn't exactly be able to reprise their roles, but a revisitation of the guileless brotherly dynamic between Ned and Robert in any form would be more than welcome. A glimpse of the Tully sisters as Catelyn was forced to trade one Stark brother for another and Lysa was not yet a crazy lady who would have breastfed her son into his teens could be fascinating. Young Viserys before he was driven mad by his circumstances could add depth to his gruesome demise, and a look at Tywin as he took the first steps toward maneuvering his family toward the throne could add even more tragedy to Oberyn's unfortunate ending.
