Game Of Thrones: 15 Best Ever Episodes

3. The Rains Of Castamere (S3 E9)

If there was ever an episode that made fans want to curl up, go to sleep, and forget everything, this was it. As if stabbing the pregnant Talisa to death wasn't gut-wrenching enough, the betrayal from Roose Bolton and Walder Frey to end Robb Stark and his mother Caitlyn left a haunting impression on the show. It remains the epitome of Game of Thrones, building characters up into heroes of the realm before cruelly slaughtering them without so much as a goodbye. There are other decent scenes in the episode with Daenerys and Grey Worm, Sam and Gilly, and Jon, but let's face it, the ending scene alone was enough to easily make this one of the most incredible episodes in the series' history. It wasn't a happy ending in the slightest, with very few characters with good intentions left to root for, but it had the exact implications a scene of that magnitude needed to have.
