Stunningly, The Rains Of Castamere isn't even the best Episode 9 of the show, let alone the best episode. Blackwater was a masterpiece depicting Stannis' invasion of King's Landing, the first time the show had dedicated the whole episode to one story akin to The Watchers On The Wall. Everything about it was fantastic, from the slow-paced build up to the intense battle scenes, with Tyrion yet again at the heart of everything with his rousing speech. But the show-stopping scene was of course the wildfire explosion in the bay and Stannis' meticulously assembled fleet was torn to shreds by the sensational blast. It's more of a minor aesthetic detail, but the green fire was a gorgeously devastating image, and wowed the fans. The episode had it all, from tension to action and was the undoubted best episode of the show... Until now...
