Game Of Thrones: 6 Best Moments From Mockingbird

5. Daenerys Asserts Her Dominance

Sexual tension has existed between Daenerys and Daario Naharis since they first laid eyes on each other, and that tension finally reaches its peak in this scene. Daenerys finds Daario in her chambers with flowers, which displeases her. Daario apologises and makes it known that he feels she isn't adequately utilising his talents, which just happens to be war and women. Daenerys points out that there are plenty of women in Meereen, but he admits that he only has eyes for her. Suddenly Daenerys decides to drop all pretense and commands Daario to remove his clothes, which he does without hesitation. The interesting part about this scene is that, for once in this series, a woman initiates sex through dominance. Ever since her taking of Astapor last season, Daenerys has been slowly accumulating a lust for power. Sure, it's based in virtuous ideals like freedom, but you cannot make the argument that she isn't getting pleasure out of her powerful position. That is really what this scene is about. She isn't allowing Daario to assert any kind of male dominance over her, and it is only through her decision to initiate it that it happens. Her body language and facial expressions says it all. She gets off on her ability to command a cutthroat like Darrio to do what she wants. The good thing about Daenerys is that she hasn't allowed this lust to overcome her sensibilities, at least not yet. Hopefully she will continue to be able to balance her ability to rule justly with the pleasure it brings her going forward.
