5. Ser Davos

Likely Outcome: The new coolest man in Westeros.

He's not a conventional hero in Westeros terms, but Ser Davos fits the bill in terms of the kind of heroic underdog that George RR Martin tends to favour. He has pain in his past (after having his fingers sliced off by the man he then swore unending loyalty to), he is principled, good-hearted and sensible - and crucially, he knows the truth about the White Walkers.

He might not even survive season 5, but Davos' rallying cries first to defend Jon Snow's body and then for everyone to pay attention to the real war (of living versus dead) cements his position as the new fan's most valuable player (or they should anyway).

He has the potential to seemlessly step into the cool vacuum created by the "deaths" of Jon Snow and Stannis Baratheon, and hopefully we'll get to see more irresistibly quotable moments before his time is done.
