House of the Dragon focuses on the aptly named “Dance of Dragons”, the name given for the civil war between warring factions of the Targaryen family. The good news for fans of epic episodes of Game of Thrones like “Blackwater” and “Battle of the Bastards” is that said civil war means battles. Lots of battles.

Multiple spectacular bloody battle sequences take place within the confines of Martin’s story, and viewers can expect to see the most spectacular ones appear in glorious detail as House of the Dragon progresses.

Classic locations such as King's Landing and Dragonstone come under attack over the course of the war and further colossal showdowns occur throughout the conflict. There’s also the incredibly exciting element of dragons fighting alongside both faction's armies, adding another chaotic, fiery variable.

Miguel Sapochnik, who helmed many of the of the iconic battle episodes of Game of Thrones such as the aforementioned visceral “Battle of the Bastards” and the unforgettable “Hardhome”, is returning to direct the pilot and is sure to have further involvement down the line. Viewers can look forward to the same breath taking visuals, phenomenal script and jaw dropping blockbuster action when House of the Dragon hits screens in August 2022.
