Game Of Thrones Recap: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Season 5

6. This Is The Worst Season, But Still Important

Season 5 is a tricky season for Game of Thrones. More so than perhaps any other season, this is one of transition: Arya to Braavos, Tyrion to Meereen, the power vacuum opened up in King's Landing and so on.

That makes it a very important season, because without the setup here you wouldn't get such a great sixth season, but it also comes at the expense of the show's own dramatic greatness. Apart from the final three episodes, this very much feels like a season of table dressing in order for that transition, which isn't as thrilling a watch.

On top of that, it also has some of the show's weakest material - Dorne, Arya in Braavos, Sansa's rape - that, when combined with the other changes, make this an important and even necessary season, but also the show's weakest.
