If you're not watching HBO's 'Game of Thrones', you're doing it wrong. Next, if you are watching the show, and you haven't read the books, you are also doing it wrong. If you haven't yet read the third book in the Song of Ice and Fire series 'A Storm of Swords' I urge you to stop reading now, unless you want to spoil yourself. We already know that the third, (and arguably most popular) book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series 'A Storm of Swords' will be split into two seasons. This is fantastic news, mostly because this installment is the most dynamic and action packed of the series and warrants more screen time than the previous two books. Book readers may have a good idea of where HBO is going to leave us hanging at the end of season three (thanks to an infamous wedding) but we can only speculate as to what will be included and left out in terms of subplots. What we have to go on at this point is who has been casted and some behind the scenes featurettes here and there. It's important to keep in mind that the books and the series are separate entities, and that it would be impossible to adapt them to the screen perfectly. Yes, we all want more horses. Yes, we want more direwolves. Yes, we want more screentime for our favorite characters. Ultimately, I think this is something I think David Benioff and D.B Weiss get too much flak for sometimes. Us rabid book fans can't get everything we want all the time, and to complain incessantly about our preferences for what should (or shouldn't) have been included should not necessarily take away from the merits and successes of the program itself. Yet, at the same time, there are a few changes or omissions that have been questionable. It makes us wonder what is in store for the future of the show, and if the characters we love will follow the same paths laid out for them in the existing books. That being said, there are a handful of subplots that should be adapted faithfully, or as faithfully as budget and screen time allow. I tried to include only the subplots that should begin to appear in the third season and may carry over to the fourth, but I'm sure there are additional story lines you would like to see included as well - sound off in the comments!
