Book Of The Stranger Game of Thrones Danaerys
HBO

For how impressive the fiery murder of the Dosh Khaleen was, it's still hard not to be a little frustrated by the fact that Danaerys' story effectively went round in a great big loop. Thankfully, when she emerged from the flames this time and got the Dothraki to love her, she did so with renewed purpose and no plans to go and set up her own republic in the middle of hostile territory.

Meanwhile, Tyrion (who was badly underused for most of the season) proved himself curiously idealistic with his pledge for peace with the slavers - like, come on, that was never going to end well. At times it occasionally feels like characters are written poorly for the sake of narrative progression, but it's a relatively small consideration here.

Having played his part so well to build a jarring dark charisma, this marked a more terrifying slant for Ramsay, killing off Osha and then goading Jon with his letter, but goddamnit was it effective.

Best Moment: Ramsay's love letter to Jon Snow, and of course Dany resetting everything by walking out of the fire again.
