Game Of Thrones Season 6: Every Death (So Far) Ranked Worst To Best
2. Summer
After Shaggy Dogs head was unceremoniously plonked onto Ramsays table, having to see another one of the dire wolves killed off felt like an extra hard kick in the ribs. But maybe we should have come to expect those kind of one-twos from George Martin and co by now?
Summers death was touching and tragic in equal measure, as the wolf chose to sacrifice itself to allow Bran a little extra time to escape. Both its attack and the chance of it actually helping Bran in any tangible way were unthinkably low on odds, but thats precisely what made the sacrifice all the more poignant.
And theres something heartening in Westeros about seeing a character die on their own terms or to protect someone else. It feels like a defiant salute to the grim reaper with the keyboard.
Sadly, it turned out Summers death was pretty identical to Hedwigs death in the final Harry Potter book - a precursor to the harrowing main event that proved the writer really would kill anyone off.
