Game Of Thrones Season 6 Finale: 5 Hints Lady Stoneheart Will Appear

Since the announcement of the title of the finale (and indeed George RR Martin's book), the meaning of the words "The Winds Of Winter" have been hotly debated. Some say since the texts establish that "words are wind" and that " Winter" generally denotes the Starks thanks to their house banner, that the title refers to the vengeance of the Starks.

That makes a lot of sense. Even despite the unfortunate death of Rickon last time out, this season has seen the rest of the survivors (including dear uncle Benjen) in the ascendancy. Jon returned from the dead, Bran got his powers, Sansa escaped torment and gained bloody vengeance on Ramsay and Arya negotiated her way out of the worst sub-plot in the show.

To have their matriarch - the most vengeful of all Stark characters - return would cement that narrative even more and set up an almighty cliffhanger for the finale to end on.
