Game Of Thrones Season 7: 10 Huge Questions After The New Trailer
6. Who Is Jon Talking To?
For centuries, our families fought together against their common enemy, despite their differences. Together. We need to do the same if we're going to survive.
The trailer has this set up as a line Jon says during his inevitable meeting with Daenerys. But the phrasing of the line doesn't really make much sense given the historical context.
Assuming at this point that Jon is unaware that he is actually Daenerys' nephew and instead means the Starks and the Targaryens working together, it really doesn't add up that he would be talking to Daenerys about this.
The Starks were famously one of the three families that helped overthrow the Targeryens in the first place. Although Daenerys' vengeance for the murder of most of her family would be more concentrated on the Lannisters and the (now extinct) Baratheons, the Starks still played a role. The Targaryens were the "common enemy" that Jon speaks of.
So, there's two alternate scenarios here. Either Jon is referring to the War of the Dawn, in which Westeros banded together to drive the White Walkers beyond the Wall, or Jon is talking to someone else entirely.
Or, alternatively, he's lying to Daenerys in an effort to create an alliance in which the Starks don't get completely wiped out. But that probably won't end well for him.
