Game Of Thrones Season 7: 12 Big Questions After 'Stormborn'

5. Is That The Last We've Seen Of Nymeria?

After being heavily teased prior to the episode airing, Nymeria did indeed make her long-awaited return, the first time we've seen the direwolf since Arya chased her away in just the series' second episode.

The return, however, didn't go down as expected. Although she didn't attack Arya, she also refused to join her in going back to Winterfell, instead choosing to stay with her pack in the Riverlands.

It was a touching, emotional scene, which called back to Arya in Season 1, but does that mean Nymeria won't be seen again? On the one hand, it's an effective way of tying up a seasons-old loose thread, and not adding any more direwolf-sized pressure on the budget. On the other, it's slightly odd to bring back Nymeria (not to mention her pack) for just one brief scene, especially when they play a larger role in the books.

Might we see Nymeria return as Arya travels to Winterfell, perhaps if she were to be attacked, or at least play some part in the wars to come? Stormborn suggests not, but it's not something that can be ruled out just yet.
