Game Of Thrones Season 7: 12 Most Anticipated Moments

4. Jaime Turns On Cersei

It's going to be another complicated year for the twins-turned-lovers, as Jaime stands by Cersei's side despite the fact she destroyed part of King's Landing with wildfire, killing a lot of people in the process. That's the exact thing he killed Aerys to prevent, and now the woman he loves has gone ahead and done it, on her way to becoming the Mad Queen.

It puts Jaime in a difficult position. He wants to be loyal to House Lannister, and he loves Cersei above all else, and yet there's the struggle within him to be better than he has in the past; to reach redemption.

That duality has long been the fascinating aspect of Jaime's character, and it should really come to the fore this year as he attempts to stand by his Queen's side. Gradually we should see him more and more concerned by her behaviour, until it reaches a point of no return.

Cersei has to die as the show approaches its end, which means either the close of Season 7 or earlier in Season 8, and Jaime is the most fitting candidate to kill her. It speaks perfectly to the tragedy and redemption of the character, and there's reason to believe we will see it happen this year. If so, it should be one of the biggest, most powerful, and poetic moments the show has delivered.
