Game Of Thrones Season 7: 9 Things You Might've Missed In 'Stormborn'
6. A New Dickon Tarly
Game of Thrones is no stranger to replacing actors (most famously with Daario Naharis, while Gregor Clegane has been played by three different men), and they're at it again this year. The Dickon Tarly seen here is played by Tom Hopper, while the one we first met (albeit briefly) in Season 6 was portrayed by Harry Potter's Freddie Stroma. Stroma left the show due to scheduling conflicts, after landing a lead role on ABC's Time After Time... which was cancelled after just five episodes. It's a nice bit of meta-commentary on this when Jaime greets him, calling him Rickard by mistake.
During this scene, we also hear Jaime refer to Randyll Tarly as the only man to defeat Robert Baratheon in battle. This goes back to Robert's Rebellion, where Randyll Tarly defeated the Usurper and his men at the Battle of Ashford - and indeed, it was the only loss the rebels suffered. Robert's forces withdrew, and it's thought the battle wasn't particularly large or damaging, but nonetheless highlights how skilled a battle commander Lord Tarly is.
