Game Of Thrones Season 7: 9 Ups And 2 Downs From 'The Queen's Justice'
6. Tyrion Getting Back To His Best
Welcome back, Peter Dinklage.
While Tyrion has had his moments in the last season and a half or so, there's also been a clear sense that he was being largely wasted, especially stuck in Meereen waiting for Daenerys to come back.
Even in Season 7 thus far, he was silent in Dragonstone, though got a bit more to do in Stormborn. Here, though, it's much more like the Tyrion of old, and it's a delight to watch Dinklage on top form and given the chance to showcase the skills that made the Imp so beloved in the first place.
Whether it was in one of his two chats with Jon, or providing counsel to Daenerys, Tyrion was back to being genuinely funny (asking after Sansa, telling Jon he does brooding better etc), gave seemingly wise advice (even if it doesn't totally work out, which is a recurring problem for Tyrion), and engaged in the sort of conversations that made him such a delight to watch in his first tenure as Hand. Most of all, though, is that it makes Tyrion feel crucial to the plot of an episode again, which hasn't been the case for far too long.
