7. Beric Dondarrion

The final shot of Season 7 was The Wall coming down, with Tormund and Beric desperately running from the impending rubble. The trailers have already confirmed he survived this, but he may not last much longer.

Beric seems to have outlasted his usefulness, and therefore is a good candidate for a dramatic death right as the series kicks off. He’s proven the existence of the Lord Of Light’s magic in coming back from the dead multiple times, and brought The Hound into the Brotherhood Without Banners to help fold him into the plot. With all that done and dusted, he’s ripe for the taking.

Thoros Of Myr has already perished, and there’s just no chance of the Lady Stoneheart plot thread appearing at such a late stage. However, a similar arc with Beric transferring his powers of resurrection over to a fitting candidate could still occur. Jon is the obvious choice, plot wise, but The Hound is the only major character in the Brotherhood Without Banners left, so it could just as likely be him.

Beric’s speech that death is ‘the first enemy and the last. And the enemy always wins’ suggests he’ll be in the centre of the battle and accept his death nobly, if that is to be his fate.
