Game Of Thrones Season 8: 10 Things That Were ACTUALLY GOOD

8. The Destruction Of King's Landing

Speaking of Miguel Sapochnik, here lies another masterful contribution to season 8. Daenerys, having lost her sanity somewhere along the way, fires on all cylinders with a no holds barred massacre of King's Landing.

One of the biggest criticisms of season 8 was how rushed Daenerys' descent into villainy was. While it was rather out of the blue at a first glance, it's worth keeping in mind how many setbacks the character suffers in a short spell of time. Two of her dragons are dead, her boyfriend is actually her secret nephew and one of her dearest friends and confidants gets beheaded right in front of her.

Even the sanest of us might lose the plot a little after all that, yet alone a member of the land's maddest family.

Sapochnik captures the Khaleesi's breaking point in all of its flame grilled glory, providing mass destruction that would rival a Michael Bay movie. After years of waiting for Daenerys to finally make good on her plan to takeover, we were handed a shockingly brutal, unconventional finale to her long-gestating mission.

Controversial to the end, it was also gripping and provocative.
