Game Of Thrones Season 8: 10 Things That Were ACTUALLY GOOD
5. Theon's Last Stand
"Theon, you're a good man. Thank you."
Possibly the most moving moment of season 8, Theon Greyjoy died a hero after a long and grisly story arc. From cocky ward of House Stark, to the prince of Winterfell to the horribly mutilated Reek, Theon's journey was a painful, regrettable one.
An unpleasant, foolish fellow initially, Theon's Winterfell takeover made him a despised figure in the series. His interminable torture at the hands of Ramsay Bolton, however, was deemed too excessive by many. After seasons of wasting away as Reek, Theon finally began a slow, quiet journey to decency when he helped Sansa Stark escape Ramsay's clutches.
Alfie Allen infused the character with the right amount of sorrow and despair, giving this beaten down shell of a man a certain sympathy we often weren't sure he deserved. His facial expression when Bran thanks him for his bravery at the battle of Winterfell is heartbreaking, successfully conveying the trauma and strength of the character altogether.
Theon never stood a chance against the Night King, he knew it and we knew it. What mattered was that he tried. His death provided that crucial delay that allowed Arya to get there in time and save the day.
A valiant ending to the series' most tragic figure.
