Game Of Thrones Season 8 Breakdown: What 'The Bells' REALLY Means
6. Euron Got What He Wanted
Few people in this godforsaken world ever seem to die on their own terms or with a smile on their face. So far, it's basically only been young Tommen, whose death was a strike back at his mother. Perhaps you can add Olenna Tyrell to that, but hers came at a huge cost. Everyone else has left with unfinished business or was dragged into the void kicking and screaming.
It's interesting, then, to note that one of the most detestable figures in the show's entire run (and also the most perversely charming), Euron Greyjoy, died smiling. Why would he though? He had a planned future and an opportunity to be king - why would he be so happy to die? Well, because he got what he wanted.
Euron's destiny, in his own mind, was to be notorious. He lived for his own legend (hence cutting out his crew's tongues so they preserved his truths) and the idea of becoming the slayer of the Kingslayer got him far more turned on than any promise of power.
