Game Of Thrones Theories: 15 Epic Season 7 Moments Still To Come

13. The Iron Bank Makes Things Difficult

When the Iron Bank's Tycho Nestoris turned up once more last episode, it was very clear, immediately that we were going to get a pay-off of the long-seeded issues the Lannisters have with gold. Some might suggest that he only appeared because it set up the sacking of Highgarden and Cersei stealing the Tyrells' gold, but it has to be more than that.

For Tycho to turn up in person demanding gold - rather than Cersei simply sending him the gold after pillaging it - suggests that she won't actually get her hands on the gold to pay back. And that will be catastrophic for the Lannisters.

Despite all the talk of the dragons being a deciding factor in Dany's war with Cersei, or Cersei going full Mad Queen on her own people for an ultimate victory, it will be the Iron Bank who sway the conflict. When Cersei fails to pay, they will withdraw their support, and they will presumably - begrudgingly - side with Dany (unless they decide Jon Snow is their dog in the fight, more unexpectedly). That will be the end of the Lannisters as a real threat (at least in the long-term) and it will ultimately be that power shift that brings Cersei to meet Dany at the Dragonpit.
