Game Of Thrones Vs. Lord of The Rings: 12 Epic Deathmatches We Want To See

6. Boromir Vs. Ned Stark

Lord of the Rings Game of Thrones
Warner Bros./HBO

The Boromir of old and Ned Stark are cut from the same cloth. They're both rugged, hardened warriors, they're both staunch leaders of men, they're both honourable and selfless, and they're both Sean Bean.

Boromir is a fearless leader, and while his lust for the ring could've been his downfall, it was the three arrows pierced through his chest that possibly did the most damage.

Travel to Westeros and you'd find Ned Stark, a noble Lord with a noble heart, which is also the reason his head was mounted on a spike. He's arguably more grizzled, and hardened to war, with a stronger mind, wouldn't have stalked Frodo for the ring.

In a straight up fight, it's incredibly close to call seen as they're the same flesh and blood... Ned might hold a slight edge (and a double-handed, Valyrian steel greatsword) but this is Sean Bean we're talking about. Ned would probably have Boromir in his sights before showing mercy. Boromir would cut him down, mortally wounding Ned, who would summon his last ounce of strength to slash Boromir. The result is inevitable.

Result: Sean Bean dies twice. Obviously. Nobody wins.
