Game Of Thrones: 10 Funniest Jokes In HBO's Long Story Short

9. Charles Dance Is Scary

Tywin Lannister is not the best developed character in the books, but he is a manipulative master of the politics of Westeros and generally kind of scary. Still, was anyone prepared for the sheer menace exuded by Charles Dance in Tywin's every appearance? His mere presence in a room is terrifying, let alone his softly spoken yet withering lines. When that familiar deep voice booms out of the Long Story Short video, it's actually disorientating to hear a tone which is almost... cheerful. He uses words like 'sexy'. It's just wrong. Of course, the writers don't let it pass. As Dance announces that he was chosen to be the narrator, Weiss explains, "We're terrified of him. You don't want a call from Charles Dance in the middle of the night." The chirpy classical soundtrack is interrupted by thunder and we're treated to a close-up of Dance's face, staring straight at the audience, as his disembodied voice adds, "Indeed." Yes, it's funny, but we'll probably still have nightmares.
