Game Of Thrones: 10 Funniest Jokes In HBO's Long Story Short

8. Who Reads These Things?

After Dance explains that the books arrived in a package at Benioff's door in much the same way that you might begin a fairy tale, Benioff says, "I thought, 'Uh, there's no way in hell I'm going to read it.'" He points out that the shortest is 800 pages and the longest is 1100 pages, which is helpfully illustrated by an animation in which a brick is used for comparison. Dance's narration assures us that they loved them anyway, but as anyone who's ever owned a hardcover copy will attest, the books are doorstoppers in the most literal sense. The UK splits some of them into two volumes, presumably for the safety of those of us who are liable to fall asleep with a book. The fact is that you might never wake up.
