Weiss and Benioff reveal that they met George R. R. Martin for lunch to discuss their ideas for adapting the Song of Ice and Fire novels into a TV series for HBO. Martin apparently asked them for their best guesses at the identity of Jon Snow's mother, whose name is a mystery which fans love to debate. Weiss and Benioff guessed right and from then on Martin was on board. It's a fun little anecdote, but the editing elevates it beyond that. We have visual aids for 'lunch' and 'test' which appear to have been generated by a quick Google search, the soundtrack suddenly morphing into something from a schlocky horror B-movie, and a sulky 'whatever' from Charles Dance when Weiss refuses to just tell us who Jon's mother is already.
