6. Oberyn Martell

He may have been defeated in the most stomach churning of fashions by a larger opponent in the form of Gregor Clegane, however prior to his thirst for vengeance overcoming him, Oberyn Martell had been using his agility and incredible skill with his Dornish spear to deliver a near-flawless performance against the Mountain. A Giant presents much the same challenge as Clegane, despite sacrificing a great deal of the Mountain€™s skill for even more brute size and power. In his battle with Clegane we saw the Red Viper use acrobatics to remain outside the reach of his opponent€™s daunting great sword while using his darting speed and knowledge of vulnerable points to rush in and inflict damage. This same strategy could be used to even greater effect against a Giant which seems to be even slower than the elder Clegane brother. Much like with the aforementioned Forel, Oberyn might not be able to instantly cripple an enraged Giant but would be able to gradually make minor flesh wounds take their toll. As we saw in €˜The Viper and the Mountain€™, the one thing which got in the Viper€™s way of an easy victory was his past grievances with Clegane making him want to prolong his suffering and solicit a confession. When fighting a Giant, Martell wouldn€™t have this deep hatred of his opponent so would be able to do battle with a clear mind, increasing his chances of victory enormously.
