6. The Birth Of The Shadow
The Moment: Stannis Baratheon was certainly a lot different to what the other characters had set him up to be. When we finally met the man who Ned Stark deemed to be King, he was pledging himself to the Lord of Light and since then all the debate hasn't really swayed his direction. At least now we know there is some truth to the magic; not only has Beric reared his regenerated head and Robb Stark met his end, potentially from Gendry's blood, but Melisandres birth of her and Stannis child proved this was more than smoke and mirrors.
Why It's So Sickening: It tends to be the gruesome murder of a character that really gets under your skin. With this entry, while it did lead to a death, the disgustingness comes from the episode before. Even though we've had dragons, the birth of the shadow baby feels so out of kilter with the realism of the show unsettling in itself but ultimately its just a haunting image that's pretty hard to forget. The subsequent death of Renly was indeed a memorable moment, but it doesn't quite match the sheer horror of seeing the shadow emerge. Not as heinous as some other entries, this is still a moment hard to scrub from your memories.
